Jeju Island is a UNESCO World Heritage site, an autonomous province sitting 90 kilometres south of the Korean mainland, formed by volcanic eruption and shaped by Hallasan, a 1,950-metre dormant volcano that is visible from the pitch on clear days. Brazilian midfielder Magno, who spent four seasons at Jeju between 2015 and 2019, became one of the island’s most recognisable sporting figures. His connection to the community beyond the pitch contributed to the club’s positioning as part of Jeju’s cultural life rather than simply a football tenant.
